Gallery

We have absolutely stunning works of art on display - beautiful paintings by Carmen and gorgeous photographic art by James McDonald.

It's all here for you to view at the Shanti Centre

Carmen Tapper

Tamborine based artist Carmen Tapper's current acrylic collection is a culmination of techniques learnt and perfected over the last three decades of her career. Carmen creates unique pieces that can be enjoyed from a distance, but to be truly appreciated must be viewed up close. Drawing on her experience in graphic design, pen and ink sketches, oil, watercolour and acrylic Carmen has created unique pieces that use shape and line to give her work character, colour change and create a three dimensional feel. Her work is inspired by the places she goes and things she sees. Each piece captures her experience and builds from her reality.

James McDonald

Local photographer James McDonald gained his appreciation for the wonder of the world during childhood trips through the panoramic open plains, distant mountain ranges, and endless skies of central NSW into the tranquil settings of Victoria’s Western District. Nature’s finer detail was introduced over numerous treks and camp-outs under the stars of his home-base, ‘place of loud thunder - little rain’; in the aptly named Scenic-rim of the Gold Coast Hinterland.

James travelled the world refining his unique ability to distil experience and emotion into the camera image. Foreign travel and experience of other cultures fuelled his love of capturing the essence of the moment to share with others.

Since returning to Australia the photographer has undertaken numerous expeditions to capture the expansive central Australian desert spirit that contrasts with Queensland’s unbelievably luxuriant tropical coastline.

Current Display

We are fortunate that James has combined some of his life experience and travels in this exhibit of original images. The contrast of man-made architecture and natural landscapes on display is a constant intrigue that truly reflects his unique perspective of technical engineering knowledge blended with an appreciation for nature’s own creations.
